Poco JunkMail Filtering FAQ - How do I setup JunkMail filtering?

Q: I can't seem to block an email address by right clicking on the mail and then select junkmailfiltering => ban sender.

It says the sender is blocked but it isn't and there's no rule added to the filter list.

Manually adding the rule works fine though.

Anyone else have this problem?

A: Junkmail filtering is working fine for me. In case you are expecting it to add normal filters to your setup, it doesn't. Junkmail is handled via special filters now, they are controlled by the junkbody, junksender and junksubject text (.txt) files in your mail directory. (The "exceptreceivers" and "exceptsenders" text files also are used). The junkbody file has a special format: "phrase", score.

For junkmail filtering to be operational you must enable it first. You do this by opening the "Junk Mail filtering" dialog from the tools menu. Check the "Enable automatic Junk Mail filtering" box. You can apply and test the settings by selecting messages in a mailbox and using the "Apply and Test" command button on the "Status" tab. You can tune the sensitivity of the filtering by using the "General Settings" tab and finally the "Word lists" tab gives you access to the files that control the filtering (as listed above).
